Trek Introduces the Marlin+ Electric Mountain Bike

Trek, a highly respected bicycle brand, has been a leader in the cycling industry since its establishment in 1976. Known for setting the standard in all categories of cycling, Trek continues to drive innovation in the rapidly growing e-bike segment. In 2024, Trek is returning to basics with the Marlin+ electric mountain bike.

The Trek Marlin has long been a popular choice in Trek's model range. It appeals to both novice and advanced riders with its versatility and approachability. With the Marlin+, Trek aims to make electric mountain biking more accessible in terms of price and performance, while maintaining the trusted Trek quality.

The simplicity of the Trek Marlin+ is its greatest strength. Priced below $3,000, it offers capabilities comparable to electric mountain bikes worth three or four times as much. It serves as the perfect entry point for cyclists interested in e-bikes, featuring components from trusted OEMs. The Marlin+ is powered by a 250-watt mid-drive motor from Bosch, specifically the Active Line Plus.

While the Marlin+ may not have the same power as other e-bikes with the premium Performance Line CX motor, it compensates with impressive technology for a natural pedal-assist feel. One notable feature is Auto Mode, which provides adaptive pedal assistance based on the rider's pace. This eliminates the need for manual adjustment and allows riders to simply pedal harder to go faster.

The Marlin+ is equipped with a compact 400-watt-hour battery integrated into the frame, maintaining the bike's clean hardtail look. Trek estimates a ride time of two to four hours, with the option to increase ride time by up to 50% with an optional 250-watt-hour range-extender.

Depending on the chosen trim level, the Trek Marlin+ comes with premium components such as hydraulic disc brakes, a front suspension fork with up to 120 millimeters of travel, and a Shimano drivetrain with either a Cues or Deore. The Marlin+ 6 is priced at $2,699 USD, while the more premium Marlin+ 8 retails for $3,499 USD. These e-bikes, along with Trek's other electric and non-electric models, can be purchased online through their official website or at local Trek dealers.
