Segway-Ninebot's Dominance in the E-Mobility Space

Segway-Ninebot is a leading player in the e-mobility industry, offering a wide range of products. In the entry-level segment, the brand has affordable electric scooters under various brand names, including Xiaomi. Additionally, Segway-Ninebot offers larger and faster scooters, e-bikes, and even an electric go kart.

At the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), many electric mobility companies showcased their latest innovations. Segway-Ninebot was among them, introducing a new product called the Xyber. This e-bike gained attention for its motorcycle-inspired design and powerful electric motor. While moto-style e-bikes are not new, Segway-Ninebot claims that the Xyber stands out from the competition.

The Xyber boasts an impressive amount of torque, with 175 Nm (130 pound-feet) available. It can accelerate from zero to 20 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds, which is fast for an e-bike. The bike is equipped with two 1,440-watt-hour battery packs, providing a range of up to 95 miles on a single charge. It also features a robust front suspension fork with 120 millimeters of travel for enhanced comfort and off-road performance.

Despite its motorcycle-like specifications, the Xyber includes standard bike pedals and a chain. This means riders can use it like a regular bicycle. The bike even appears to have a standard bicycle drivetrain with derailleur gears. However, it also has a twist-throttle for a simulated motorbike experience without the need for pedaling.

Pricing, availability, top speed, and optional extras for the Xyber have not yet been announced by Segway-Ninebot. However, the bike will come with a range of tech features, including a digital dashboard, Bluetooth connectivity, and an Active Scene Perception feature that adjusts lighting and power delivery based on the terrain. The bike's large digital display is mounted on the handlebars, similar to a motorcycle, providing riders with important ride data.
