Husqvarna Announces 2024 Street Bike Lineup for Global Market
Husqvarna has recently unveiled the 2024 versions of its Vitpilen and Svartpilen street bikes, which will be available worldwide. While the bikes are set to launch in the US, the first country to receive them will be India, where they are manufactured.
Pierer Mobility, the parent company of Husqvarna, KTM, and GasGas, has a longstanding partnership with Indian motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj. Bajaj is considered one of the largest manufacturers in the world and has been producing small-displacement bikes in collaboration with the European conglomerate since KTM entered the market in 2013 with the 390 Duke.
The 2024 Svartpilen and Vitpilen have undergone a comprehensive refresh, similar to the updates made to the KTM Duke in the previous model year. These bikes share the same underlying structure as the Duke, with only styling, bodywork, and minor features setting them apart. The 2024 Svartpilen models (125, 250, and 401) have received a thorough refresh, including a new frame, improved engines, and updated styling.
In India, pricing has been announced for the new Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 250. Both models have attractive price tags, making them appealing options for enthusiasts seeking a premium yet accessible street bike. The Svartpilen 401 is priced at Rs 292,000 (approximately $3,511 USD) and features a revised single-cylinder engine with 46 horsepower and 39 Nm (28.9 pound-feet) of torque.
Similar to the 390 Duke, the new Svartpilen 401 is equipped with advanced electronic rider aids, including throttle-by-wire, traction control, and ABS modes. Ride data can be viewed on a large five-inch TFT display, and the bike also features a Type-C charger and optional smartphone connectivity. The Svartpilen 401 boasts an impressive suspension system with 43mm WP Apex inverted forks and an adjustable WP Apex monoshock. It comes standard with 320mm and 240mm front and rear discs, respectively, and dual-channel ABS.
The sportier Vitpilen 250, priced at Rs 219,000 (approximately $2,633 USD), offers a more aggressive ergonomics package and aesthetics reminiscent of its premium sibling, the Vitpilen 701. Currently, only the Vitpilen 250 has been announced for India, powered by a 249.07cc liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. With 30.57 horsepower and 25 Nm (18.5 pound-feet) of torque, it provides ample power for a quarter-liter street bike.
Like other models in the KTM and Husqvarna lineups, the Vitpilen 250 is equipped with advanced technology, including traction control, throttle-by-wire, a quickshifter, and ABS. Suspension is handled by 43mm inverted forks and an adjustable monoshock from WP. The Vitpilen 250 also features front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, similar to the Svartpilen 401.
